As you are well aware proper training, cardio, and diet is crucial in being prepared in a bodybuilding line-up. Knowing how to properly implement each can give you that extra edge against the competition.

Many bodybuilders preparing for their bodybuilding contest do so haphazardly. They end up losing aerobic and holding fat. At the last minute they realize they are not in the condition they should be and they implement last minute “tricks” to try to come in harder.

You don’t have to be a weightlifter to benefit from strength training. In fact, many studies show that even average people should incorporate strength training into their regular weights routine. Regular strength training is credited with helping even average people maintain healthy bones, prevent injuries, speed up their metabolism, and just look healthy.

Kim Bruno – Weights Girl

Let’s face it. Even the most devoted exercisers can get bored doing the same workouts week after week. And, if the mind is getting bored you can bet that the body is probably too, which means it isn’t being challenged as much as it should.

But, with the many, many training options to utilize, being bored should not even be an option. This is especially true when it comes to strength training. Variety with resistance training is practically endless – from different pieces of equipment, training techniques, sequences and more.

Where and when were you born?
San Jose, CA 1970

What is your profession?
Pilates Model

Were you involved in sports or fitness prior to bodybuilding and how did you get started with weight training?
I was always involved in sports in school, basketball, volleyball, track, gymnastics, cheerleading. I was a serious tomboy as a young girl, I had three older brothers whom I played basketball with and rode dirt bikes with.

Was it a goal for you to compete in bodybuilding competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body?
At first I had planned on competing, but decided to focus on the modeling aspect more.

Please tell me something about your training routine (ie: how many days per week / training split /cardio, etc.)
I train at least 5 days a week, usually an hour of fitness and 30 minutes cardio. I hit each body part at least once a week. and legs sometimes twice.

Danielle says “So now after five years of competitions I have moved up the ranks and I placed in the top five at several national level shows in 2006. My BIG goal for 2007 is to get my IFBB professional status in figure and then I would like to compete in the Figure Olympia in the same year. My short-term career goals include to headline my own NPC or IFBB show, opening and managing my own supplement store (with the help of my sponsors), and eventually I would like to have my own gym with a dance studio inside and to !! I know that my dreams will come true very soon, I am thankful for the support of those who help me. I am also so grateful for the constant support from my sponsors, for believing in me and giving me the freedom to train and focus on my career goals, and allowing me the opportunity to be part of a great winning team.”

Do you compete? Have you considered competing? Ok, so, you’ve been training and lifting in the muscle for months. Why are you keeping it under wraps? Shy? Or are you afraid? Your friends all say you have a great physique. But, has a panel of physique judges judged that body and compared it side-by-side together with other physiques?

To win in bodybuilding competitions requires a certain level of physical and mental discipline. Do you have what it takes? Ok, let’s say you do, but do you know what to do to get there? Stay Tuned…

I won the Lightweight Division of the 2007 Team Universe. Let me rephrase. I am the 2007 Team Universe Lightweight Bodybuilding Champion. Woah! That sends chills down my spine. It gets even better, though, folks. As a reward for winning the only drug tested NPC event at the national level, I earned a spot to represent the U.S. at the 2007 IFBB World Amateur Women’s Bodybuilding Championship in Spain on September 21st.

This was better than a pro card.

This was worth waiting for.

Flavia Crisos – Fitness Girl

was born in São Paulo on September 6, in 1977. I had a childhood rich in motor experiences where I practiced ballet and other sports for more than ten years.

In 1994 I moved to Florianópolis, an island in the south of Brazil, mainly to run away from the violence and the chaos of São Paulo, but also because I liked to surf. So, the harmony between tan and tranquility was perfect.

I started weight training ten years ago to gain weight since I was very slim. But with time I got a taste for the sport. So, after attending college for Physical Education and acquiring the technical knowledge, my training became more serious and complex. The transition between casual and competitive training was only a consequence of this process.

It was not easy in the beginning since I always prepared myself without help. I have never had a coach and I made a lot of mistakes until finding the proper way. However, the competitive environment, the relationship with other athletes, as well as my personal experiences, facilitated my technical development and gave me a better knowledge of my true potential.

Tara says : “I was born and raised in Queens NY. I started sport about 10 years ago and I took to the gym l very well . I started seeing changes in my physique right away and it got me so excited that I just wanted to train harder and learn as much as I could on about exercise. I became obsessed with exercise. My trainer and mentor encouraged me to get certified to be a personal trainer ( I was working unhappily in the garment district of NYC at the time). He who encouraged me to do my first yoga competition. A decision that changed my life.”
